Shands Sports Performance (SPC) Services

Building on the University of Florida’s long history of sports research and innovation - Gatorade® was developed in 1965 by UF College of Medicine researchers - the UF&Shands Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Institute (OSMI) is committed to establishing a leadership role in the field of Sports Medicine through innovative and applied research. Located within the OSMI, the University of Florida Sports Performance Center (UFSPC) incorporates the latest research and clinical knowledge in our approach to improving athletic performance. With our clinicians’ defined focus on sports medicine, performance assessment and training, injury prevention and rehabilitation, the programs at UF SPC are among the most advanced in the southeast.

The cornerstone of our approach to the improvement of athletic performance is the understanding of our client’s biomechanical, physiological, psychological and nutritional profile through customized assessment and instruction. The UF SPC provides an array of services for clients of all ages and athletic abilities, from the week-end warrior to the elite level athlete.
