The Golfer’s Advantage
What’s a little pain? At least until it starts affecting your golf swing. Most people do not associate golf with injuries, but they do occur. The most common injuries suffered by golfers are those of the low back, hips and upper extremities (shoulders, wrists and hands). These injuries are usually the result of overuse, poor or improper mechanics and poor conditioning. Overlooking or ignoring such conditions can lead to more serious problems and the inability to play golf up to your expectations. Poor mechanics can not only lead to injury, but also to lower performance at all skill levels. Therefore it is essential to establish and maintain proper training and fitness in order to maximize your enjoyment and success in the sport of golf as well as a healthy lifestyle.
Therefore, we introduce to you, our The Golfer’s Advantage program...
The Golfer's Advantage program is customized by our staff of sports medicine physicians, certified and licensed athletic trainers, licensed physical therapists and experts in biomechanics and exercise physiology to meet your individual needs. The program consists of golf-specific flexibility exercises, strength training, cardiovascular conditioning and scientific motion analysis studies by our clinical research specialists. A strong and flexible body will allow you to produce the forces required for powerful golf swings, and reduce the potential for muscle strain or injury and 3D motion analysis will assist with learning how you can modify your technique to improve your overall golf game and prevent injury.
What is The Golfer's Advantage?
The Golfer's Advantage is comprised of physical assessment, exercise training and scientific analysis designed specifically for the golfer and their swing. The Golfer's Advantage program addresses underlying musculoskeletal dysfunction that may be limiting your ability to truly enjoy the game of golf or improve your handicap. Program selections include golf-specific strengthening, stretching, sports massage therapy and biomechanical computational analysis using the latest 3D motion analysis technology like that being used movie animation studios.
What can I expect from The Golfer's Advantage Program?
After a thorough musculoskeletal physical assessment by one of our sports medicine physicians, a golf-specific assessment and routine will be developed to address the musculoskeletal limitations in your golf swing.
We will perform a 3D biomechanical analysis of your golf swing using our state-of-the-art motion capture system. This analysis will include measurement of your weight shift, club speed, trunk rotation and arm position and motion. Your results will then be compared to the measurements of PGA and LPGA golfers in our database.
You will be evaluated by a physical therapist specializing in golf-specific fitness assessments. This evaluation will focus on strength, static and dynamic balance and flexibility. With this information, the therapist will develop a custom exercise program prescription tailored to reduce the chance of injury and improve your golf game.
To assist with the implementation of your exercise program prescription, personal or small group sessions with one of our exercise specialists are available. Also, our licensed massage therapist is available for sport-specific massage sessions. If desired, our therapists will work with your golf professional to coordinate a program that is best suited for you and your game.
